Bernard C. Fox, Jr. (In Memoriam)
It is with great sadness that the Fox & Fox family announces the loss of their patriarch, Bernard C. Fox Jr., on March 5, 2018, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
An attorney for 40 years, Barney was passionate about the practice of law and a fearless advocate for the clients he represented. He was a champion of the marginalized underdog and for those without a voice. To his professional colleagues, Barney was considered a skilled civil litigator in the Cincinnati community and was beloved by friends and foes alike.
To his legion of friends, Barney was the kind of person you meet once in your life. He was blessed with a quick wit, a sublime sense of irony and an untold compassion for the well-being of his friends.
But Barney’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sandy, and his children Virginia, Cassandra, Brandon, Jake, Brady and Savannah. Barney was the eldest of 11 children and is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Mary Fox, father, Bernard C. Fox Sr., and sisters Grace Abanto and Angela (David) Wilson. He is survived by siblings Patrick, Frank (Barb), Mary Jo (Karl) Hundley, Emily Burton, Margaret Mary (Dale) Burton, Ann Linville, Tony (Pam) and Kathleen (Murray) Still.
Barney was a 1967 graduate of St. Xavier High School. He attended college at the University of Cincinnati and was a 1978 graduate of Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He served as a constable for Judge Wood and joined the Office of the Ohio Attorney General in 1979. He joined the practice of Fox & Clear L.P.A. with his father, Bernard C. Fox Sr., in 1983. He and his father formed the law firm of Fox & Fox Co. L.P.A. in 1986.
